Erica Pate was the successful candidate in the competition for the position of acting Pome Fruit Integrated Pest Management Specialist in the Agriculture Development Branch. Erica began her duties today and is working out of the OMAFRA Resource Centre in Simcoe. Erica recently graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. She grew up on a horticulture farm in Brant County and worked in agriculture during the summers. During her university career Erica held summer positions as a crop scout for Cargill, a research assistant for Pioneer, and most recently she completed an Undergraduate Student Experiential Learning project under an agreement between the ministry and the University of Guelph.
She is looking forward to using her education and experience to support the pome fruit sector and to work with stakeholder organizations across the province.
